William Summers, Jr Obituary

Mr. William Clinton Summers, Jr, 56, of Huntersville, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 in the Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville. He was born May 15, 1964 in Rutherfordton, NC to William Clinton and Rebecca Ann Butler Summers.  He is a graduate of Harry P. Harding High School of Charlotte and then he joined the US Air Force and earned the rank of Senior Airman. Following the Air Force, he earned his Bachelors of Aviation Science from the University of New Mexico graduating Summa Cum Laude. He married the former Lauri Dewhurst.

Clint was an Avionics Specialist for Skytech, Inc. of Rock Hill before his brief illness. He was a member of Club Puros Cigar Club and enjoyed his time with the members and friends having a cigar at the Tinder Box. He enjoyed working on airplanes and even repaired F-16's for the Air Force Thunderbirds. Fly fishing, scuba diving, traveling and exotic foods were among his favorite pastimes. He loved his 6 dogs and 2 cats.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lauri Dewhurst-Summers; father William Clinton Summers, Sr; brothers Christopher Summers and wife Christine and John Kessler and wife Cassie; father-in-law and mother-in-law Larry and Joyce Dewhurst; brother-in-law Brad Dewhurst; nephews Noah Summers, Brandon Freshour, and Joshua Kessler and niece Elaine Kessler. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Butler Summers.

Funeral Service will be 2:00PM Saturday, September 5, 2020 in the York County Airport Hanger; 550 Airport Rd, Rock Hill, SC; with Pastor Jonathan Allen officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Forest Lawn West Cemetery; 4601 Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC.
