Mr. Bill Hassenplug, 74, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 in the Novant Health Presbyterian Matthews Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1945 to Charles Bodie and Colleen Moore Hassenplug in Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sandi Gail Cook and sister Linda Offenbach. He retired from Lucient Technologies after 33 years of service and co-founded ASAP Communications, INC in 1998 with Andrew James "Jim" Davis. He and his wife Trudy were members of New Covenant Baptist Church where Mr. Hassenplug would teach the youth.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Trudy Parker Hassenplug; children Billy Hassenplug and wife Lauren, Julie Baucom and husband Doug, Ginger Sheppey and husband Brent, Dan Hurd and Ned Hurd and wife Nicole; grandchildren Alexis Hurd, Savannah Hurd, Kayla Hurd, Nathan Hurd, Nolan Crooks, Brittany Hassenplug, Blake Hassenplug, Matthew Baucom, Katie Reynolds and husband Michael, Sarah Clanton and husband Robbie, Rebecca Stone and husband Will, Mellissa Sheppey and Sarah Sheppey; great grandchildren Sayler Rae Gaskins, Leo Sheppey and Zachary Eddins; siblings Pam Thorsted and husband Steve, Sherrill Kincaid and husband Ralph, Danny Hassenplug, David Hassenplug, Paul Hassenplug and sister-in-law Janet Hassenplug.
Funeral Service will be 2:00pm Monday, February 17th in the Sanctuary of New Covenant Baptist Church; 5114 Rogers Rd, Indian Trail. The family will receive friends 1:00-1:50pm prior to the service. The interment will be private.
