Susan Blackwelder

Susan Starnes Blackwelder  72 of Monroe NC, fell into the arms of her Savior on September 27, 2021 at the Trellis Supportive Care while surrounded by loved ones. 

Susan loved life and shared it with her beloved husband of 33 years, Marvin Blackwelder. Susan was a dedicated member of Weddington Methodist Church. She loved being surrounded by her church family and being involved in as many creative projects as possible. She was well known for her “perfect” look and eye for style….and bargains.

Susan was happiest with her husband and family whom she loved so much. She spent countless days and hours with her adoring grandchildren, serving them breakfast in bed, building rockets and participating in all of their events. Her two grandchildren put it quite simply, “She is the best”. They get a real kick out of teasing her and calling her “Granny”, making her sound older than she felt! Now 27 and 19, her grand babies are still her pride and joy. Susan’s son describes her as his best friend and will be missed more than he can express. 

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Anne Mae Carter Starnes and Luther Potter Starnes, sisters, Dallas Holler, Phyliss Carras and brother, Stanley Starnes
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Janice Pettus, brother, Luther Starnes JR., her son, Jeffrey Scott Horrell and his wife Christina, stepdaughter, Angie Ennis her husband David 
and her beloved grandchildren, Lauren and Landon Horrell.

Visitation for Susan will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 in The Good Shepherd Chapel of Life and Legacy Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Burial will be private.
