Steven Ray Thompson

Steven Ray Thompson, age 61, passed into the arms of his Lord on January 4, 2022 while being cared for by the staff of Novant Health Matthews and surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born on Monday June 13, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, NC to Jerry Lee and Shirley (Shoemaker) Thompson. Steven was married to Marilyn Simpson.

Steven was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the beach. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.

Steven was predeceased by his father and his sister Darlene Helms. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Marilyn Thompson, his daughters Melissa Watson and her husband Caleb and Mandy Miller, his mother Shirley Cochrane, his sisters Vivian Thomas and Lynette Freimanis and her husband Mark, his brother Barry Thompson and his wife Jackie and his grandchildren Oakley, Maisyn, Rhett, Jenna, Ava, Christian and Gavin.

A celebration of Steven's life will be held at Life and Legacy's Good Shepherd Chapel on Monday, January 10th beginning with a visitation at 11:00 AM followed by a service at 12:00 PM.
