Sofia Kokos

Sofia Kokos, age 95, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, a great friend and wonderful Nana.  She passed away on October 24, 2023 peacefully in her sleep at age 95.  Even though her failing health took her away from this world, her loving heart left a beacon of light for those who knew her. 

Sofia loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious and unique meals. As a superb homemaker, she was gifted in many ways.  In addition to cooking like a true chef, baking like no other, she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.  As a pastime she would indulge in crocheting doilies of various shapes, sizes, colors that clearly displayed her wonderful abilities. Kids also loved being around her.  She was tender, sweet, caring and often would spend hours just holding them.  

She is survived by her son Daniel, daughters Elsa and Mirta.  6 grandkids, and 7 great-grandkids.  A sister-in-law, several nieces, great grand-nieces and nephews.  And also by her adoptive family, Susie, Fernando, Nicholas and Santiago. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30 from 10:00-11:00 am at Life and Legacy Funeral Home:  6523 Old Monroe Rd., Indian Trail, NC  28079.  Funeral service and burial will follow at the Hartis Grove Cemetery:  5524 Golden Pond Dr., Indian Trail, NC  28079.
