Simmie Naymon Dorton

Simmie Naymon Dorton, age 86, of Monroe passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Atrium Health Medical Center West Union in Matthews, NC. Simmie was born in Union County, NC on Thursday, October 3, 1935 to Joseph M and Nancy J (Helms) Dorton. Simmie was married to Harriett Patricia Couick.

Simmie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved gardening, spending time at the river, helping his neighbors and convertible cars. Mostly he loved his family and above all his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Simmie was predeceased by his parents and  his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years Harriett P (Couick) Dorton, His daughters Dell Miles and Gail Broome and her husband Tommy, his sister Rachel Simpson, his grandchildren Adam and his wife Tanis, Mia and her husband Mark and Lacy and her husband Steven. His great grandchildren Isaiha, Levi, Owen, Jaxson, Olivia, Grayson and Ava.

A celebration of Simmie's life will be held on Saturday  at 11:00 AM beginning with a visitation at Life and Legacy's Good Shepherd Chapel followed by a private family only graveside service.
