Shirley Jean Godair, age 82 was born on October 7, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Milford and Frieda Pulliam. She passed away peacefully at PruittHealth in Harrisburg, NC on October 16, 2023 while surrounded by those she cherished.
Shirley's life was one characterized by the love and dedication she had for her family. She was a selfless mother to her children Mike, Bill, Debbie, Jimmy, and Tony; always putting their needs and well-being above her own. The bond she shared with her parents, Milford and Frieda Pulliam, was a testament to their core values of love, loyalty, and family unity.
As a grandmother, Shirley was an endless source of wisdom, patience, and joy. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Michael Godair, Shalayne Godair, Dustin Godair, Heather Godair, Zachary Godair, Brontae Godair, Hayden Godair, Jonathan Godair, Kristen Godair Zapata, Bethany Godair Rodwell, Josh Kirk, Lauren Ashley Kirk, Danielle Godair Price, Sharee McCoy, Jenna Godair, Alex Godair, Martin Luna and Jennifer Luna. She adored them and poured her love into their lives, leaving an indelible mark that will be cherished forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents Milford & Frieda Pulliam; her brother, Jim Pulliam; her sons Mike, Bill & Jimmy; her grandchildren Michael Godair , Shalayne Godair, Dustin Godair, and Lauren-Ashley (LA) Kirk.
Family members left to cherish her memory include her children, Debbie (Dave) Benson of Fairmont City, Ill., and Tony (Mirssa) Godair of Concord; daughter-in- laws Tina (Bill) Godair and Donna (Jimmy) Godair; numerous grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Shirley's resilience and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a zest for life that was infectious, and she embraced every day with open arms. Her genuine care, empathy, and selflessness touched the lives of those she encountered, leaving a lasting impact.
Though we are saddened by her departure, we find comfort in the incredible memories we shared together and the incredible legacy she leaves behind. We will remember Shirley as a devoted mother, grandmother, an admired sister, daughter and a cherished friend. Her love, kindness and compassion will be greatly missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of us.
Visitation will be at 6p.m. on Friday, October 20th. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held immediately after at 6:30 PM at Cornerstone Church (315 Webb Rd. Salisbury, NC 28147). Pastor Brandon Spiker to officiate. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory and celebrating the life she lived so fully.
