Samuel Grant Obituary

 

Mr. Samuel Pershing Grant, 100, of Wesley Chapel, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Grant was born October 22, 1918 in Chattanooga, TN to John and Ada Davis Grant. Mr. Grant served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers in World War II in Italy and North Africa as a 2nd Lieutenant. Mr. Grant earned his Master’s Degree in Physics from Georgia Tech and was a nuclear engineer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grant was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Quynn Grant; and brothers JT and Lester Grant, and sister Ada Grant. 

Left to treasure his memory are his beloved daughter, Beverly Price, and son-in-law, William; granddaughters Stephanie Cherry and Natalie Cherry, step granddaughters Anna Blair Henderson (John David) and Caroline Price, step grandson Andrew Turner (Danielle); and 3 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Novant Hospice for their warm and excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Charlotte Chapter.

The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
