Richard Owens Obituary

Mr. Richard "Dick" Franklin Owens, 83, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in the Novant Matthews Medical Center. He was born October 24, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Victor S. Owens and Rosalie Kural Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Nancy Marie Jordan Owens.

Mr. Owens enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, and fishing. He attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois on an Army ROTC scholarship and served as a 2nd Lt. for the Armed Forces of the United States. He was the youngest Vice President of Sentry Insurance where he was employed for several years. From then on he held management roles for some of the top tier insurance companies in the nation.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin Kufahl and wife DeeAnn, Mark Kufahl, Brian Kufahl and Amy Spredemann, Chris Owens, Corey Owens and Courtney Carlson; daughters Marnie Owens and husband George Nickerson, Jr. and Erica Owens and husband Sandy Houston; grandchildren Jordan Nickerson, Christian Owens, Sofia Owens, Bennett Owens and Samantha Kufahl.

The family will have a private memorial service to celebrate Mr. Owens’ memory.
