Michael Lee Smith

Mr. Michael Lee Smith, 23, of Monroe passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born July 31, 1997, to James F. Smith Jr. and Lindsey Griffin.

Michael was a loyal friend and a loving and caring man who had a heart of gold. He enjoyed fishing, rebuilding and restoring cars and aspired to be an ASE certified mechanic. Everyone that had the privilege to meet him soon realized his kind and loving soul. While growing up with his brother and sister there was never a dull moment. They would go exploring and always got into something. He had a fun and bubbly personality and could make anyone smile. He was the Michael that his family adored. The light of his life was his son Brendon. When they were together they lit up any room they were in.

Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Johnnie Mae Caskey Smith, his maternal grandfather Clifford Wayne Griffin and his maternal great grandmother Geneva Courtney Moore.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Brendon Michael Smith, mom and stepdad Lindsey and Raymond Reeves, dad James F Smith Jr., brother James F Smith III, sister Sarah Michelle Smith, maternal grandmother Sheila Helms, paternal grandfather James F Smith Sr. and his wife Doris, aunts Amanda Griffin, Lisa Plattenburg, Cindy Beal and Sheila Taylor and a nephew Daxton Joshua Smith.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1 PM in the Good Shepherd Chapel of Life and Legacy Funerals and Cremations, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079 followed by interment at Lakeland Memorial Park 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
