Michael Ray Blackwelder

Michael Ray Blackwelder, age 78, of Waxhaw, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 while in the care of Atrium Health Medical Center in Charlotte. Michael was born on Saturday, September 4, 1943 in Concord, NC to Reverand Ray and Roberta (Cockraine) Blackwelder. Michael was married to Judith Gatilogo.

Michael was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who was a professional singer having sung with the Blackwelder Brothers and the Singing Americans. Music was in his blood. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchild

Michael was predeceased by his parents and a daughter Tammy Blackwelder. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Judith Blackwelder, his daughters, Sandy Blackwelder and her husband Malcolm Myers, Jennifer Taylor and her husband Chris, his brothers, Harvey Blackwelder and his wife Teri, Jim Blackwelder and his wife Teresa, his grandchildren, Erica Gilmore and her husband Nate, Hannah, Luke and Katelyn Taylor, his great grandchildren Clancy and Murphy Gilmore and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Michael will be private and held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements are by Life and Legacy Funerals and Cremations, 6525 Old Monroe Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
