Mr. Melvin Douglas Ross, 81, of Indian Trail, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in his residence with his family gathered at his side. Mr. Ross was born July 31, 1938 to George Sutton and Ophie Eugena Gibbs Ross in Charlotte, NC. He married the former Martha Ann Pressley on July 25, 1959. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Indian Trail. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth L. Ross, sister Dorothy Givan and his son Steven Ross.
Mr. Ross was a great husband to Ann for 61 years and an awesome father, papaw and knucklehead pawpaw. He was truly the pillar of the family. He loved spending time with his family and teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren how to do things. He showed them how to shoot guns and even pole vault across a creek. Melvin was truly a humble man, even while sick in the hospital he refused to complain. He enjoyed going on trips to the lake with his camper and boat and taking his grandchildren on special trips to Disney, Washington DC and many other places.
Left to cherish his memory: his beloved wife Ann Ross; daughter Teresa Mulligan and husband Buddy; grandsons Brian Mulligan (Lauren Cordery) and Michael Mulligan (Kayla); granddaughter Ashley Mulligan (Graham Lynn); great grandchildren Liam Mulligan, Donovan Mulligan, Anthony Lynn, Lillian Mulligan and baby Maximus Mulligan on the way.
The family will gather for a graveside service 11:00AM Friday, June 5, 2020 in the Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery; 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC; with the Reverend Danny Myers officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Levine and Dickson Hospice, 8919 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC or Levine Children's Hospital, 208 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203
Services are entrusted to Life and Legacy Funerals and Cremations, Good Shepherd Chapel; 6525 Old Monroe Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
