Mrs. Martha Frances Gilreath Crump, 95, of Indian Trail, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at her daughter, Barbara's, home in Pageland, SC. She was born September 22, 1925 to James Franklin and Mary Lee McHaley Gilreath in Raleigh, NC. In addition to her parents and among those waiting for her in heaven are her brother James Franklin Gilreath III, husband, James B. Crump, daughter Louise Crump Griffin, grandsons Jamie Capps and Matthew Gaddis and great granddaughter Cecily Johnson Sherbo.
She was thankful for her large and loving family who celebrate the fact that she is now with her Creator. Among those left to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law Raymond Griffin, Margaret (Rick) Stancill, Doris (Nick) Rochester, Cheryl (Benny) Helms, Patsy Wooten, Barbie (Wendell) Johnson and Nancy Webber; twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews affectionately known as the Veas.
Martha was known by her family as a Prayer Warrier who lived her life selflessly. Her life was a sermon as she demonstrated her trust in God in her daily life. Her firm belief in her heavenly Father supported her in her daily struggles and gave her a peace that she believed and taught was available to all of us. Her sweet smile, her touch and her kisses will be missed. She was truly an inspiration and never met a stranger. She loved her family, enjoyed reunions and holiday gatherings. She loved to read and go on mountain vacations.
The family would like to thank the Pruitt Health, Union Pointe, where she lived for five years and Agape Care, South Carolina for their caring for her at home during her final days.
The funeral will be 10:30AM Friday, October 23, 2020 in the Sossamon Chapel of First Baptist Church, Indian Trail; 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail. The family will receive friends 9:30-10:20AM prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the Sunset Memory gardens Cemetery; 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill.
