Lilia Shmakov

Lilia Shmakov, age 45, of Indian Trail, NC, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Park on March 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Lilia was born November 6, 1978 to Galina and Vasili Visotsky in Narva, Estonia.

Her siblings are Viktor, Luba, Tatiana, Veniamin, Anatolij, Alexander, and Vladimir. She married Yuiry Shmakov on October 27, 2001 and their children are Timothy, Ruben, Melanie and Jessika.

Lilia enjoyed travel and loved being involved in a church setting. She led the teens ministry at First Slavic Baptist Church and enjoyed leading the early teens to Christ and planning trips for them. She was a very active Christian, always reading her bible and trying her best to lead others to Christ. Her demeanor and overall presence was very God-filled and she had a special distinct glow about her. She always tried to make everyone feel welcome and always put others above herself. One thing she always said was “take life one day at a time.” She always reminded everyone to slow down and to just enjoy the life that God gave them. Even when her life became difficult she still sang songs of praise to God and thanked Him for the time she still got to spend with her friends and family. Her life is an example to all that we need to trust in God and always look towards the positive future.

A celebration of Lilia's life will be held at First Slavic Baptist Church, 7600 Plott Rd, Charlotte, NC with a visitation at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 4426 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205.
