Larry Wallace Deese

Larry Deese passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his home that he loved, on the same piece of family land where he was born 86 years earlier.

Larry lived a rich life, with many friends and a family who loved him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, traveling and taking in the beauty of nature. One of his favorite things was to drive through the North Carolina mountains and enjoy the scenery.

Larry entered the U.S Army after graduating high school and served honorably before returning home and beginning what would become a 30 year career with Southern Bell.

The last 13 years of Larry's life were a challenge, following an accident that left him unable to use his arms or legs. The family is eternally grateful to the many caregivers, physical therapists and other medical professionals who worked with him and took care of him over the years.

His greatest caregiver was his wife, Virdi, who spent 59 years with him and devoted herself to making sure he had the absolute best care these past few years.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his two children, Jim (Yvette) and Kim (Andy), as well as four grandchildren and a sister, Pauline. Being a grandfather was one of the greatest joys of Larry's life. He adored his grandchildren Emily, Abby, Skylir and Gracelynn and took immense pride in everything they did.

Larry's family is grateful for the strong, loving role he played in their lives. He will be missed beyond words.
