Joann Rose (Young) Wilkins

Joann Rose Wilkins, Age 83, went to be with the Lord Sunday June 20, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home. Joann was born on Monday, May 2, 1938 in St Louis, MO to Estil and Rose (Purviance) Young. Upon graduation from high school Joann attended and graduated from The Lutheran School of Nursing in St Louis as a Registered Nurse and then attended and graduated from St Paul Bible College in St Paul MN with a Bachelors degree. She then spent three years doing missionary work in impoverished countries before resuming her nursing career. Joann was married to David A Wilkins.

Joann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and follower of Jesus who was a voracious reader and was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. She was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother John Young and son Mark David Wilkins.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband David, her daughter Kathleen and her husband Rene, her sister Shirley McKissick, her grandsons Josue Maldonado and his wife Kara, Samuel Maldonado and Daniel Maldonado, her granddaughter Rebeca Maldonado, her great granddaughter Anastasia Maldonado, her nieces Susan Gordon and Barbara McCarthy and her brother-in-law Dale Wilkins.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. Arrangements are by Life and Legacy Funerals and Cremations 6525 Old Monroe Rd Indian Trail, NC 28079
