James Sanford Mitchell, Jr

Mr. James Sanford "Sandy" Mitchell, Jr., 78, of Matthews, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in the Atrium Health Medical Center of Pineville. He was born February 4, 1942 to James Sanford Mitchell, Sr and Dorothy Johnson Mitchell in Charlotte. Sandy graduated from West Mecklenburg High School class of 1960. He was associated with Baker-Mitchell Co. for a number of years before his retirement.  Sandy enjoyed spending time with the Charlotte Ski Bees, the Charlotte Water Ski Club, and at one time held the honor and title of being the National Trap Shooting Champion! 

Sandy is survived by his brother Bub Mitchell and wife Susan; nephew Mark Mitchell and wife Laura;  niece Kimberly and husband Kipp and other great nieces and nephews. 

Graveside service will be 1:00PM Sunday, October 18, 2020 in the Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery; 10601 Moore's Chapel Rd, Charlotte, with Lay Pastor Jeff Wiggins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
