Obituary
Istvan Szalai, age 86, of Indian Trail passed away peacefully while in the care of Atrium Health Medical Center Union while surrounded by his family. Istvan was born on Sunday, December 20, 1936 in Hungary to Istvan and Katalin (Vidak) Szalai.
Istvan was a loving father, grand father and great grandfather who past time watching TV and reading. He enjoyed working in his garden and cooking. He especially enjoyed being with his family and telling stories of his life.
Istvan is predeceased by his parents and 5 brothers. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Tuyet Minh Hua and her husband Thanh, his granddaughter Jenny Hua and her husband Elvis, 2 grandsons Jonny and Jayden Tran and 2 great granddaughters Ava and Aleina Dang.
A celebration of life will be held for Istvan on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Life and Legacy's Good Shepherd Chapel beginning with a visitation at 5:00 PM followed by a vigil service at 6:00 PM. Interment at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury NC will be at a later date.
