Mrs. Gretchen Mae Hettinger Proal, 69, passed away January 2, 2021 in the Atrium Health Medical Center of Monroe. She was born May 22, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to Dwaine and Rita Bohn Hettinger. Her parents preceded her in death.

Gretchen was a loving wife and mother. She loved to shop, enjoyed makeup and perfumes. She was the life of the party, quick whited and had a sharp tongue.

Left to cherish her memory: her husband Michael J. Proal; son Michael D. Proal; sisters Lydia Connolly and husband John, Bridgett Laudicina and husband Edward; brothers Rolf Hettinger and Karl Hettinger and wife Beth; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no formal services and the family desires her life to be celebrated for all the joy and laughter she brought to her friends.
