Dwight Lee Butler, age 90, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at home while with his loving wife. Dwight was born on Monday, July 11, 1932, in Charlotte to Ernest C and Lillian E (Hamrick) Butler.
Dwight was a loving husband, father and grandfather who faithfully served his country in the United States Army for 27 years retiring in 1975 at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He then continued to serve his country as a Supervisory Civil Engineer in Civil Service until 1986 when he was injured and he retired
Dwight was predeceased by his mother and father, sons Dwight L Butler Jr and Gary Butler, a daughter Sheryl Ann Butler, brothers Ernest C Butler Jr, Donald Butler and Ronald Butler and a sister Lillian Irene Purdy. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brenda, his sons Michael Butler and Adrian Butler MD, and wife Tracey, his grandchildren Missie, Jessica, Tyler, Branden, Gavyn, Luke and Liam and his great grandchildren Rosa, Royben, Rayne, Skye and Starr, a sister Doris Grant, four nephews and twelve nieces.
A memorial service to celebrate Dwight's life will be held Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 12610 Steele Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28273. Inurnment will take place on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 at 11:00 AM
