Mr. Doyle Waybright, 84, of Lake Park, passed away early morning June 1, 2020 in the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center of Charlotte. He was born June 29, 1935 to Guy and Helen Bennett Waybright. He later married the former Joretta Joan Moore on June 27, 1959. Doyle graduated from the University of West Virginia and then served in the US Army as a Lieutenant and after being Honorably Discharged he remained with the US Government until retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Stanley Waybright, Robert Waybright, Glenn Waybright and Guy Waybright and sister-in-laws Iva Waybright and Alma Waybright.
Left to cherish his memory: his beloved wife Jo Waybright; son Tony Waybright and wife Cheryl; daughter Susie W. Howell and husband Melvin; grandson Marshall Waybright; granddaughter Courtney Waybright; sister Dottie W. Sturms and husband Charles; sister-in-laws Kitty Waybright, Wilma Waybright and Eleanor Waybright; in-laws Don Moore and wife Judy and Barbara Reece and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prior to moving to NC 20 years ago, Doyle and Jo lived in Vienna, Va for 38 years and were active members of Providence Baptist church where Doyle served in several leadership positions. He retired from the US Government (Army) after 34 years, He traveled extensively with his job and received numerous commendations for outstanding service.
Since moving to NC, Doyle and Jo have served the Lord at Shiloh Baptist Church in Monroe. Doyle is a member of the Masonic Lodge #244 in Monroe.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers who were involved in Doyle's care during the past year.
The funeral service will be 11:00am, Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the Sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church with the Reverends Ron Hanna and Brad Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends 10:00-10:50 prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to the Building Fund of Shiloh Baptist Church; 2301 Rocky River Road North, Monroe, NC 28110.
