Douglas Griffin Obituary

Mr. Douglas Byron Griffin, 66, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 in the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center of Charlotte. Doug was born December 30,1953 to James Wylie and Margaret Gay Griffin in Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Gibson, brother Rev. Bill Griffin and nephew Joshua "Boo" Griffin, Jr.

Doug was a hardworking man; he was a plumber for commercial and residential properties. He never backed down from a challenge to make things better for his family. He was always a giver and never a taker; he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Those who knew him best new his greatest loves were coffee, camouflage, fishing, hunting and most importantly;his grandchildren. He loved all of his family however his grandbabies were his life.

To cherish his memory are his children Stephanie Hamsher and Scott Griffin and wife Heather; grandchildren Devin Hamsher, Taryn Hamsher, Madyn Holland and Blake Griffin; siblings Annie Stallings (Mickey); Kenneth "Buck" Griffin (Billie Jean); Larry Griffin, Dale Helms, Katherine Tadlock (Sammy) and Jenny Plowman; sister-in-law Rebecca "Becky" Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 Noon Friday, July 24 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail; 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd., Indian Trail. The family will receive friends 11:00AM-11:45AM prior to the service.
