Dorothy Willene (Mercer) Jones

Dorothy "Willene" Jones, age 71, passed into the arms of her Lord on April 30, 2022 while under the care of Novant Medical Main (Charlotte) and surrounded by her loving family. 

Willene was always considered to be the administrator of the family. She took care of almost all of the family affairs and was the one who always had the answers. She loved to sing and collect all kinds of nick-nacks as one could tell from the minute they entered her home. She married her husband Jim in 1971 and together they had two children, Michael and Theresa. In her earlier years she worked as a dietician and after moving from her home in Fort Lauderdale to Charlotte she started working in child day care. She was very active in her church and always loved to sing about her Lord. 

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Bernard and Lucille Mercer, her daughter, Theresa Jones, her sisters, June Mercer and Betty Smalling, her brothers, Ross and Ray Mercer. Left to cherish her memory are her husband James Jones Jr., her sister, Barbara Ricks and her husband John, her son, Michael and his wife Beth, her two grandchildren, Raven Jones, Hunter Jones and his wife Natalie, two step grandchildren, Samantha Nicole Sapp and Mary Katherine Sapp and great-grandchild, Averie Sapp plus many nieces, nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews. 

Services for WIllene will be held in the Good Shepherd Chapel of Life and Legacy Funeral Home on May 7, 2022 starting with a public viewing at 11:00 am followed by funeral services starting at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at the Salisbury National Cemetery and will be a family only private service. Life and Legacy is humbled to be serving the needs of the Jones Family during this most difficult time.
