Mr. Clayton Alexander Sturdivant, 59, of Monroe went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, Monday, February 10, 2020 in the Hospice and Palliative Home of Union County. He was born June 29, 1960 in Wadesboro to Jennie Sturdivant. He was a graduate of Anson County High School in Wadesboro. His beloved mother Jennie Sturdivant Barringer preceded him in death.
To know Clayton was to love him. He was known for his Servant's Heart, he was the cook for the men of Ground40. Clayton made sure they would leave with a smile and their belly was full of good food. His mother and Aunt Ella taught him how to cook and how to treat people. He truly was a humble man, he knew what it took to be the best man he could be. The brotherhood of Ground40 will truly miss this wonderful man. We don't wonder where Clayton went, we look forward to going to where he is!
Left to cherish his memory; his sons Chasrae Bennet and Christopher Bennet of Wadesboro; his aunt Ella Sturdivant Perry of Wadesboro; his spiritual father John Hurley and his many brothers of Ground40.
Friends and Family will gather 5:00-5:45pm Thursday, February 13, 2020 in the sanctuary of Lee Park Church; 2491 Morgan Mill Rd, Monroe, NC. Funeral Service will follow at 6:00pm with Pastors Chris Justice, Wesley Keziah and John Hurley sharing the Gospel.
Memorials may be directed to Ground 40 Ministries: www.ground40.com or 303 Dale Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
