Brenda K (King) O'Malley

Brenda K. O'Malley, age 72 ,of Indian Trail, passed away peaceful on Thursday, February 16, 2023 while in the care of Novant Medical Center Main in Charlotte while surrounded by the people who loved her most. Brenda was born on Thursday, November 9, 1950 in Columbus, OH to Otis "Dicey" and Billie (Ennis) King. She graduated from Roanoke Rapids, NC High School,  Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC and Pembroke State University in Lumberton, NC  with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She and her loving husband John O'Malley were married on Saturday, April 28, 1984 and enjoyed 39 years of marriage. Not without some pain though as they lost their only child, Lance Corporal Shawn M O'Malley USMC in 2009 from injuries he received in Iraq.

Brenda was a cheerleader in high school as well as college, she was a highly sought after softball player and was her high schools Homecoming Queen. In 1987 she began her career as a teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. Following that she taught at Metrolina Christian Academy in Indian Trail, NC beginning in 2003.

Brenda was predeceased by her mother and her son. Left to cherish her memory are her husband John O'Malley and her father Otis King.

A celebration of life for Brenda will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079 beginning with a visitation at 12:00 noon followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
