Barry Lee Hunter

Barry Lee Hunter, age 52, of Matthews, passed away suddenly while at work on Friday, May 19, 2023. Barry was born on Friday, August 21, 1970 in Brooklyn, NY to Johney A and Willette (Murphy) Hunter.

Barry was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.  He never met a stranger and he had a unique ability to relate to everyone.  He made connections effortlessly. One of Barry’s most notable characteristics was his sincere desire to help others. During his free time, he enjoyed playing and watching sports, cooking, working on his car, and spending time with his family. He will also forever be remembered as the one with the most stylish sneakers and shades. 

Barry was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Joe Lee and Annie Laura Murphy and his paternal grandparents Willie B and Nora Lee Hunter. Left to cherish his memory are his parents Johney and Willette Hunter, his brother Travis Hunter, his sister Johnnetta Hunter, his special friend Loranda Hallums and several aunts, uncles, cousins and four lovely nieces.

A celebration of life will be held for Barry on Saturday May 27, 2023 beginning with a visitation at 12:00 PM at Life and Legacy's Good Shepherd Chapel followed by a service at 1:00 PM. The public is welcome.
