Barbara Miller Obituary

Barbara Ann Miller, 82 years of age, passed on Sunday August 4th, just a few weeks shy of her 83rd birthday in the home of her children Sissy and Levy surrounded by her daughter, son in law, nephew and his wife, granddaughter, and 5 of her 8 great grandchildren in Waxhaw North Carolina. Barbara was born August 31, 1936 in Manhattan, New York to the late Melford and Monica Jeffrey. She was the middle of three children, one preceded her in death. Barbara was educated in the New York City Public School System. Barbara known as an excellent seamstress would make her own clothes.  She was apart of the Glee club in school. She danced, played music, and sang.  She worked as an x-ray technician at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx.  Barbara married the late Lee Williams in 1956 and two children Kevin, and Celise “Sissy” were born from this union. They raised their children in the Bronx, New York until Barbara and Lee divorced.  Barbara than moved to Long Island, NY in 1969 where she remarried Bernie Miller. When Barbara moved to Long Island she began to work at Pilgrim State Psychiatric center where she remained until she retired in 1992.  Barbara’s life has been one of service to others.  Barbara loved to read and study her bible. She loved her baby sister Carolyn. She loved her cousins Darlene, and Valerie.  Barbara enjoyed being a mother but her greatest joys came from being a grandmother of her 3 grandchildren Levy, Lee and Brandy.  She devoted her life to taking care of her family.  She always thought of others before herself. If she could be of help to anyone in any way, she would. Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memory her sister Carolyn Edmond (Tom), her children, Kevin Williams, Celise Terry (Levy) 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Every believer anticipates the day when they will stand before the Lord and perhaps hear Him say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21) Of all the recognition and accolades we may receive here on earth, nothing will compare to hearing this praise from our Savior.
