Andrey Malimon

Andrey Malimon, age 20, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 while in the care of Levine Dickson Childrens Hospital in Charlotte surrounded by his loving family. Andrey was born on Sunday, December 24, 2000 in Ukraine to Viktor and Olga Malimon.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” -Matthew 5:8
On December 24th, 2000, Viktor and Olga Malimon were blessed with their second child and first son- Andrey. He was a very calm, quiet, and seemingly usual child, although there were a few small details about his health that caused his parents concern. The doctors said he would grow out of it and be alright, but the older he grew, it was noticeable that he wasn’t as reactive to his parents’ voices as expected, and couldn’t concentrate his gaze. When Andrey turned 3 months old, it became evident that he was not just a usual healthy child- for soon he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.. and that is how the difficult, pain-filled life of this young boy started. It became a common occurrence for him to visit hospitals, suffer pain, and fight illnesses. But despite all that, Andrey fought back with all his strength and brought lots of joy to his family. He started taking his first steps with the help of specially designed walkers, and filled the house with the most beautiful effervescent laughter. Although throughout his life he never was able to say a word, his shining eyes spoke for him- and his joyful singing was often heard by those surrounding him. With age, Andrey started feeling worse. His sparkling eyes turned sad and he was no longer able to walk.. but even through all that, this boy never gave up and showed his strong willed personality often. He always tried to wrestle and get his way no matter how much strength it took, and that brought a lot of cheer to his family. 
  It is difficult to understand why Andrey had to go through such a painful and heavy life, and only God alone knows the reason for that. One thing is clear- he was here for a purpose- for through Andrey, God taught his parents, sister, and brothers to be soft hearted and understanding towards those who are walking a similar path in life. His family will always be grateful to God for trusting them with such a fragile and gentle gift, and for teaching them so much through his time here.
Andrey’s last year of life turned out to be especially full of hardships and suffering. He ended up in hospitals often and even survived a cardiac arrest. But even through this agony, he fought and slowly started beating the new condition that didn’t allow him to move as freely as before. Soon enough, Andrey had to make another hospital visit due to unbearable pain.. and this turned out to be his last. The doctors were unable to cure him, but tried their best to ease his discomfort during his last days.
On October 19th, 2022, our beloved son and brother Andrey went home to be with Jesus. God appointed 21 years and 10 months for his life, after which his suffering finally came to and end, and he is able to enjoy everlasting peace and comfort in Heaven with the Lord!
Until we meet again at the feet of Jesus, dear Andrey. You will be greatly missed!

A funeral service for Andrey will be celebrated on Friday October 28th at 10:30 AM at Life and Legacy's Good Shepherd Chapel followed by interment at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr, Matthews, NC 28104.
