Marvin Albert Fabris, 93, a resident of Monroe, passed away Thursday December 5th, 2019 with his family at his side. Mr. Fabris was born March 6th, 1926 to Albert and Angelina Debin Fabris in Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Fabris and sister Doris Tiderington.
Growing up in Detroit, Mr. Fabris joined the Navy at age 18, and was a World War II veteran serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Randolph. He was honorably discharged as Seaman First Class in 1946.
After his military service, Mr. Fabris joined his father’s tile business. Together they grew the business, eventually taking it over and later with his son Curt, enjoyed a 50-year career. On May 10th, 1958, he married the former Barbara Tindorf and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Mr. Fabris was a father of four, a grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of two.
Mr. Fabris was a fun-loving and a true family man. He was a hard worker, but always took time to enjoy family activities like boating and water-skiing. He was a competitive skeet and trap shooter, and later took on golf and bowling, but he was always the happiest with his family around.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Fabris; children Terri Zajac (Pete) of Shelby, NC; Karen Riley (Thomas) of Mint Hill, NC; Curt Fabris (Christine) of Port Saint Lucie, FL; and Kim Fabris- Perez (Carlos) of Weddington, NC; grandchildren Jeff Zajac (Jenny), Nicole Cornejo (Frankie), Sheri Stanley (Jeff), Ashley Fabris, Justin Vaught, Alex Perez, Jason Perez, Madelyn Perez; and great grandchildren Jordan Vaught and Callen Stanley.
The immediate family will have a private gathering. The American Legion Post 535 will honor his memory and service to our country.
