Joseph Sagginario was born on 7/1/23 in Ozone Park, NY – the same year the original Yankee Stadium was built. He was a life long lover of baseball, as a player in his youth, and as an avid fan thoughout his life. From Ruth to Judge, he saw them all.
He lived through the Great Depression and served in the US Army during World War II. As a GI in the Pacific he was awarded various medals including the Purple Heart. He worked as an electrician after the war, eventually starting and running his own burglar alarm business. Also following his discharge from the service, he met and married his wife of 70 years, Angela.
Joe and Angela moved to Valley Stream in 1955 and lived there until his retirement in 2005. They moved south, spending Joe’s later years first in Florida and, finally, in North Carolina.
Joe, always a family man, is survived by his wife Angie; his three children, Carolyn Fisher and her husband Russell, Joseph Sagginario and his wife Carol, and Maria Kirchner and her husband Cliff; four grandchildren, Judy Fisher Rogers and husband J T, Joseph Kirchner and wife Yussra, Thomas Fisher and Joseph Sagginario; and two great grandchildren; J J Kirchner and Kate Rogers.
