James “Brandon” McClung, 39, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Rainelle, was set free of his pain and his braces on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
Born June 26, 1979, at Clifton Forge, Virginia, he was the son of Craig and Vicki Underwood McClung of Rainelle.
Brandon graduated from Rainelle Christian Academy then proceeded on to be a proud WVU alum with a B.S in Sports Management. In completing his Master’s Degree at WVU, he started an internship with UNC Charlotte Athletics, where he was then hired within the capacity as a Research Associate at Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal. He was also a statistician for the National Football League for the Carolina Panthers and for Minor League Baseball, for the Charlotte Knights.
Brandon is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lee and Blackie McClung, his aunt Pam and uncle Barry Casto.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his maternal grandparents Charles and Donna Underwood, his uncle Charles “Chuck” Underwood, brothers Brian McClung (Kelley), Brad McClung (Terri), Brent McClung (Angie) and cousins Erin Crest (Andy), Goeff Casto (Heather), Chris Casto (Brittany); and his special aunt Gilda Young (Jim).
Brandon was well known for his compassion, kindness, determination and good humor. His two great loves were family and sports. His light will be sorely missed in this world by family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, in the Sewell Valley Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh, Pastor B.J. Grimmett, and Pastor Fred Fryar officiating.
